nervous guy gets arrested

Panama City Police arrested a man for walking in a downtown alley at 2 a.m. and being nervous.

The man noticed a police officer’s headlights and increased the pace of his walking, “quite a bit,” officers wrote in an incident report. An officer stopped the man and asked him what he was doing. The man said he was out walking around but then changed his story saying that he had lost his glasses and was looking for them. Officers patted him down and found a flashlight in his pocket.

The man has an extensive criminal history, officers wrote in the incident report. The suspect said he lost his glasses earlier in the day and had come back to look for them. The man said he only needs them when he tries to read small print. The suspect could not say exactly where he was when he lost his glasses, officer’s noted, and did not have a reason for why he was searching for the glasses at night instead of during daylight hours.

The nervous man was arrested and charged with loitering and prowling. Officers said the man failed to dispel their “well founded fears and concerns” for the citizens and private property in the area.
