A man dug a trench across the dirt road in front of his home, neighbors and Bay County Sheriff’s deputies reported.

The trench was about 14 inches wide and 15 inches deep. Deputies contacted officials with Bay County who are responsible for maintaining the road. Workers were dispatched to fill the trench. Deputies also attempted to contact the trench digger but were unsuccessful.

Neighbors reported that the man dug the trench to stop all terrain vehicles from driving recklessly up and down his road. No charges have been filed in the matter.

A deputy was called to a Panama City Beach residence where a very drunk man had been pinned to the ground. Witnesses said the man was threatening to fight everyone around and claiming to be a green beret. The deputy pulled the men apart and told the green beret to go into his house and sleep it off, deputies wrote in an incident report.

The green beret said the deputy would be in trouble if he didn’t leave him alone. After repeated attempted to get the green beret to go inside the deputy grabbed the man and attempted to take him into protective custody.

The green beret shook the deputy off and prepared to fight him.

“I deployed a short burst of aerosol subject restraint and secured (the green beret) without further incident,” the deputy wrote.

A Southport man’s debit card disappeared, Bay County Sheriff’s deputies said in an incident report. The victim was unsure if it was lost or stolen. However, after checking his records the man found one purchase that was not his, deputies wrote.

The thief spent $27.13 on a gospel CD.

No word on if the thief also tried to buy a bible.

Bay County detectives spent some time this weekend trying to determine who scratched an expletive into a man’s Suzuki passenger cas. The man had been arrested earlier Friday after he was involved with a physical altercation with his girlfriend while at work, Bay County Sheriff’s deputies wrote in an incident report. The girlfriend was the prime suspect in the criminal mischief.

However, she told deputies that the man’s ex-wife had previously damaged his vehicle. At the time of the report deputies had been unable to locate the ex-wife. The case is still under investigation.

A man threw a party with several of his friends. After the party the man noticed that he had been robbed. One (or more) of his friends took a gold watch, a sapphire ring, one bottle of prescription medication, and an official New York Giants jersey with the number 56 (Lawrence Taylor) on it. The man knew all of his friends names but none of their addresses saying that they lived in Millville. The case is under investigation.

A woman complained that her boyfriend’s ex-wife stole several items from her home, Bay County Sheriff’s deputies wrote in an incident report. However, most of the items were found by deputies as they searched the woman’s home. The woman said that diapers, beer, medication and money were taken.

However, there were plenty of diapers, beer and money left behind and deputies found the missing medication in the house.

At one point the woman’s friend picked up a television remote and the victim asked where it was found. The friend replied that it had been on top of the television.

“I’ve been looking for that for weeks,” the victim said according to the incident report.

“It is unknown if the other items were actually stolen or if Mrs. (victim) is similarly confused or mistaken about their location,” deputies wrote.

A Georgia tourist lost a $9,000 ring on Panama City Beach, Bay County Sheriff’s deputies wrote in an incident report. The woman said she thought she took the ring off when rubbing sunblock on her three children near the Commodore Condominium. She and her husband searched for the ring but were unable to find it.

The ring is a three carat diamond on a platinum band with five small diamonds around it. Anyone who finds the ring should call the Bay County Sheriff’s Office at 747-4700.

A Panama City man could no longer look on the sunny side of things after he found a broken egg in his mailbox. The victim told Bay County Sheriff deputies that he saw a Sports Utility Vehicle speeding away from the scene. However, investigators spoke with owner of the SUV and are convinced that he was just checking his mail and was not involved in the eggicide. The suspect said it was an ongoing problem and was probably local kids. The broken egg caused no damage to the mailbox. It was unclear if the FBI will be investigating this federal offense.

A Chipley man used the threat of a gun in order to steal a Playstation 3, Panama City Police investigators said in a news release.  Joshua O. Voyles, 26, said he was going to buy the toy and got a Target clerk to remove the game system from a locked cabinet. But after she removed it he said he had no money but he did have a gun, investigators said in a Friday news release. The clerk called for assistance and Voyles fled the store without the game system. Investigators said they found him a short time later in possession of crack cocaine.
He was charged with attempted robbery, possession of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Panama City Police Department at (850) 872-3100 or Crimestoppers at (850) 785-Tips.

A Panama City woman told Bay County Sheriff’s deputies that several items had been stolen from her home. The woman named her ex-boyfriend as the most likely suspect, deputies wrote in an incident report. The thief took a DVD player, 20 DVDs and a box set of four adult movies, the woman said. She added that the boyfriend keeps driving past her place of work. The victim works at a gas station.
