Today’s story about a retired Air Force captain who ordered a hit on his wife reminded me of a 2005 story.

Here’s some of today’s story.

PANAMA CITY
A retired Air Force captain is accused of hiring a man he met in jail to kill his wife of 25 years.
Bay County Sheriff’s Office investigators said Robert Sidney Thompson Jr., 45, of Wood Valley Road, intended to pay for the killing in an installment plan. Thompson offered to pay his new friend $2,000 immediately after the killing and $500 a month for the next six months, investigators said.
Thompson and his wife are going through a divorce, investigators said.
The killing was thwarted when the would-be hit man contacted the Sheriff’s Office and Thompson was arrested. Thompson is being held in the Bay County Jail without bond and is charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
Thompson’s wife never was in danger and was “emotionally devastated” by the news, said Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jimmy Stanford.

And here’s some links to the 2005 stories where a teenage bride and her lesbian lover hired an undercover deputy to kill her husband. We actually had one more case of this than I thought. Take a look at these stories , from 2006.
