Jan 2: A deputy and a parole officer in the Callaway probation office were getting ready to serve a warrant on a convict. As they walked through the hallways of the probation office the duo passed a 24-year-old man. Once they passed him the parole officer realized they had passed the convict they were trying to arrest.
The man fled on foot.
The duo chased him and called for backup but they were unable to find and arrest the man. It was unclear in the report what the original charge was, but the man is also now charged with resisting an officer without violence.
Jan 2: A Panama City woman was asleep in her home when she heard a noise. She went to investigate and found a thin man standing on her front porch. The man, who had a stocking on his head, ran away. Investigators believe the man came in through an unlocked garage door, then got into the kitchen before ending up on the front porch. Nothing was stolen from the house.
Jan 2: Two men, one of whom was an outdoor reporter, were on county property in Southport taking photographs of boats. A nearby homeowner was not happy. The irate homeowner told a deputy that he wanted the men arrested for trespassing. The deputy explained that the men were not doing anything illegal. The irate homeowner “became hostile towards me and came up to me and bumped my chest,” the deputy wrote.
The deputy removed his handcuffs and explained that he would arrest the homeowner if he tried that again. After that, “the situation then became under control.”
