A man trying to carry a 2-week-old kid away from its home likely is responsible for three previous disappearances, authorities believe.
Bay County sheriff’s deputies want to find him before any more baby goats disappear.
Deputies responded to a rural home Saturday after the owner nearly caught the thief.
The woman said she was “outside feeding their rabbits and heard a banging commotion in one of their goat buildings … she could hear the goats making noise inside. Using flashlights, she and her father approached the buildings and suddenly heard a male voice shout out something unknown.”
The two saw a man “carrying a baby goat in his arms moving away from the buildings. (She) shouted at the male and he dropped the baby goat, fleeing westward.”
The suspect is described as a white male, about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, with a red ski cap, and “scruffy” facial hair.
The victim said three other baby goards have disappeared in the past two weeks. She said they are too young to be weaned and she is uncertain why anyone would take them.
