A Cedar Grove woman told Sheriff’s Deputies that her daughter had gone missing at a local retailer. Deputies and store employees searched for the missing child but could not find her and the woman could not describe her own daughter. Deputies called the woman’s husband who informed them that the child was at home. The woman, who had been taking prescription medication, told deputies she did not know why she lied to them and she was sorry. The woman was arrested and charged with giving false information to a law enforcement officer.
A deputy watched as a man climbed into a delivery truck near a Panama City Beach store and stole several cases of soda. As the man walked away from the truck the deputy stopped him and asked if the truck was his. The man replied, “No, I was thirsty.” He then pulled out several dollars from his pocket. The deputy then asked him why he did not go into the store and buy some soda.
The man shrugged and repeated, “I was thirsty.” The man was arrested for burglary.
Two men were arrested for burglary after they tried to make off with a coil of wire from a Panama City Beach construction site. The men snatched the wire and attempted to flee the site in a truck but were blocked by construction workers in a large tractor. The construction crew detained the men until deputies arrived.
An unknown man must have been going through nicotine withdrawal. A Panama City clerk said the man came into her store and asked her to ring up three cartons of Marlboro Reds (regular), three cartons of Marlboro Lights (regular) and three cartons of Marlboro Lights (100). She rang the items up and placed them in a bag, which the man snatched as he ran out the front door without paying. The man hopped into a car and sped away with the smokes.
Deputies are still looking for the unknown cigarette snatcher.
